Sterile fly releases
SIT flies will be released at Cadell, Holder, Kingston on Murray, Overland Corner, Qualco, Sunlands, Taylorville, and Waikerie until 1 December 2024, as conditions will allow fruit flies to mate – see fruit fly life cycle.
SIT flies will also be released across Salisbury North from 29 August to 14 November 2024. Three million sterile Queensland fruit flies will be released every week for the first 6 weeks, then around 600,000 every week for the remaining 6 weeks.
